3 August, 06
We left Kitsbuhel, Austria and headed for Zell am See. It was raining so we had a coffee and tea and a cremeschnitte (R70) later. We could not enjoy the town so we moved on to Badgastein (Austria). We thought since it is raining all the time we should try hide away in a thermal spa. We checked into a youth hotel, called Hotel Krone. It was really inexpensive and very nice. I guess it is a kind of hostel and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The rain was persistent so we went straight to the spa and had a swim in the indoor and outdoor heated pools. They also had saunas and steams, so Richard was in heaven. I was done after an hour, but he was there for longer. One must be prepared for all the nudity and just to warn you – no costumes allowed!
We did not even take one decent picture in this cute very hilly town because when we finally went for our evening walk, it was getting dark and the pictures would not come out? There is a massive powerful waterfall flowing through the centre of the town and the mountains are capped with glaciers. Apparently the skiing is very good in winter and the town gets crowded. The town was very quiet so we had a lovely dinner at our youth hotel – one of the best yet!
