27 September, 2006

We started our day at the Prague Castle. Our visit started at the Beautiful Gothic Cathedral of St Vitus which is the most distinct medieval building in Prague. The old Royal Palace was interesting and we visited the gardens and the Golden Lane which is named after the goldsmiths who lived there in the 17th century. It is shrouded with myths and legends. This lane was really for the poor and the name ‘Golden’ was used in irony as the place was so dirty. Now one finds tiny little shops with artifacts (where the poor used to live) in the tiny houses and the lane has a lot of character. The Castle was a bit disappointing and we continued our day walking through some lovely parks along the river and enjoying our last night in Prague.
