We visited Prater which was the old amusement park and they are trying to re-create it since it was destroyed at the end of the 2nd World War. It was a fun place and we went on the Riesenrad which I guess is equivalent to a Ferris Wheel. The views were very average. We walked through the woodlands and an amazing park and it was so wonderful being in nature a stone throw away from the city. Everywhere was very quiet and peaceful and the weather was also good. We took a train to the Danube and had a picnic lunch alongside the river. Vienna is a lovely city, easy to get around and lots of art and culture. There is an abundance of museums and the city is spotlessly clean and very safe. It was a big night for us – we were on our way to the theatre to see a Strauss and Mozart concert. We got all dressed up (for the first time since we left), it was exciting. The music was wonderful and even Rich got through it without snoozing (too much??). There was a bit of ballet and opera but it was mainly an orchestra playing. It was a good evening.
