2 November, 2006

I woke up with an inflamed sore throat from hell and really not looking forward to moving again. But, we decided that our last night in Nepal should be spent on the mountain in a different area with views of Everest?!/. I guess that would be the closest we would get to seeing it and the rest of the mountain range. We had a fabulous bus ride winding up into the mountains until we reached Nagarkot. It was good to be out the city and into the quiet, fresh mountain air again. We booked in to ‘Hotel Viewpoint’ which is the highest point in Nagarkot and so we were promised great views. The hotel was decent except for the Indian bathroom which we were really unhappy to see. But, we quickly found out what the trick was with the hot water because guaranteed there would be some trick- and yip- there was a bit of a twist and a click to get the hot water running. Nagarkot is known for its sun rise and sun set and there is nothing much to do so apparently reading material is advised. We had our laptop so we were ok. We got to the hotel, chilled a bit and then went to the rooftop to try and see sunset but it was a bit cloudy. However, we did see the Annapurna Mountain Range and Everest all covered in snow, in the distance. We had an early dinner with an Israeli couple Haim and Elamor, that we met on the bus trip and it was a lovely evening with them. We tried to have an early night because we had to get up for sunrise and we don’t do well in the mornings!!
