29 October, 2006

We left Hotel Dynasty because it wasn’t quite the luxury we were looking for after the India expedition and we walked to the famous Kathmandu Guest House. They then shipped us off to the Park Village hotel 10km from the city. It was gorgeous and we decided to vegetate by the pool for the rest of the day. The gardens were beautiful and it was so peaceful and calm, just what the doctor had ordered. We came into the city again for dinner and some shopping. After dinner we attacked the bakeries again for their half price sale. We all felt so good here in ‘The Du’ and the people are very friendly. There is very little harassment and one can walk in the streets quite easily. Kathmandu is so much more advanced than India, which was a surprise to all of us. There are pavements and there are no cows in the road, hence the poo, urine and filth. The shops are proper stores and they are fairly clean. There are not so many food stores in the streets either which minimizes flies etc. Our hotel is a bit out the way but it is wonderful to get back there every night away from all the pollution and into the foothills of the mountains.
