31 October, 2006
We walked from our hotel to the Nature Reserve, climbing the mountain all the way and finally we reached the gate. It was another 3km to the start of the hike so we got a cab ride. This was definitely the scariest ride I have ever had. We were on a dirt track that was so bumpy and rocky that a four by four was certainly the only solution. But, we were in a funny old cab and I still cannot believe I came out alive, let alone without a damaged spine. Shivapuri National Park was extremely quiet and not a tourist to be seen. We started from Nagigumba and there was a beautiful temple with great views. From there we hiked to Shavipuri Peak and it was a shady hike in the forest without any views. It was very pretty and we had a great day. Five hours later we arrived back at our hotel ready for dinner and a good sleep.
