13 January, 2007
We checked out, luggage and all, and we actually didn’t know if we were ready to leave tonight. We had a day tour excursion and we were off to see the whole island of O’ahu (which by the way is where Honolulu and Waikiki are). We stopped along the way frequently to take some photos, mainly at beaches and bays, but it was gorgeous. There are 5 volcanic mountains in O’ahu and they are really pretty. Some other mountains covered in greenery and trees make for good hiking too. We stopped at “Dole” Pineapple Plantation, don’t worry I hadn’t heard of it either, one of the biggest pineapple productions in the world. From fresh to canned pineapples, ice-cream, smoothies, dried pineapple, biscuits- you name it! The pineapples were delicious, I must confess! Our lunch stop was a local shrimp truck along the highway- they were fresh and delicious. Even Rich enjoyed them. Passing the North Shore we saw some fantastic scenery as well as big surf (and the Pipeline was pretty cool)! There were many crazy surfers out there too! We then made our last stop at a coffee and macadamia nut tasting shop. We had our fare share- especially Rich- and it was a good day. We got back, extended our flight, cancelled the flight booked for tonight, booked into the hotel again and went for a stunning walk at sunset!
