6 January, 2007
We spent the day in a country called Kiribati which consists of many islands and the one we were on is called Fanning Island. It is very primitive, in the middle of nowhere with a few villages, a school and a hospital and a couple of churches. NCL owns part of the island and we had a full day in the sun with a barbecue and loads of swimming in aqua-coloured waters. We walked around the island and it was interesting to see how the few inhabitants live. There are not too many people living on this island since it is fairly new and untouched. The day was very enjoyable and extremely hot (about 40 degrees). It was a gorgeous little place but I am not sure if it is worth the trip (four days in total) from Hawaii in the rough seas.
