11 March, 2007

We woke up to a cloudy day which is not what we wanted. We did some internet and chilled around the ‘inn’, met some travelers and ate some breakfast in the communal kitchen. It started to rain on and off and we were a bit disappointed but we decided to do the tour to the volcano anyway. We got them to drop us off at lunch time at the thermal hot springs that we would revisit later after the walk. We wanted some extra time relaxing and rejuvenating from our stressful vacation (ha ha) and it was raining so there was not much else to do. The hot springs were really nice and relaxing and there were many pools to choose from. All the water is natural from the mountain and there are no chemicals or toxins added. The tour picked us up and off we went on a hike to try and get a sighting of the volcano that apparently oozes red lava if the shy volcano unveils itself from the thick cloud cover. It started to pour and we were walking in the rain. It was a nice walk and we saw a viper snake, an owl as well as two tucans, but we were drenched and soaking wet. We did not get to see the volcano and the clouds were even thicker and denser than ever. The guide really made the tour and he was an incredible man. He reminded me of the ‘wise monkey’ from The Lion King’. He was a spiritual man and spoke from his heart. We then got dropped off at the hot springs again with all the other millions of tourists and it was like a zoo. The rain did not let up and we got back to the Inn wet and tired.
