We were on our way to visit the Manuel Antonio National Park. We got the bus at the terminal and it wound its way up the winding road through the forested slopes lined with shops and restaurants and hotels. About 7 km later we reached the palm –lined beach and we walked across to the entrance of the park. The path ran parallel to the ocean and we walked in the forest first. We spotted an anteater- looking animal, a dassie, a woodpecker and loads of monkeys. There were plenty of iguanas roaming around too and there was an especially large one right on the beach. We spent the afternoon on the most magnificent beach lined with palms and clear calm, warm water. It was so hot, the temperature must have been at least 40 degrees in the shade and the ocean was also so warm- almost too warm to swim. We got the bus back towards Quepos half way up the pass and jumped off to have a few drinks at the many bars and restaurants lining the road. We eventually got back to our hotel, had a shower and got to the sushi restaurant just in time for the ‘all you can eat’ special.
