31 March, 07

Oh Salvador is great but it is time to move on. We waited and waited at the bus station and the bus just never arrived and so we had to get a taxi (something we never do) to the ferry terminal. We got there in time for our catamaran and we sat on the deck in the front spread out having a snooze and contemplating life. The sky was a light blue- very clear- and the ocean was a deep blue, we were in the boiling heat with a comfortable breeze as we sailed along, minds racing and wondering what next?! We were on our way to Morro de Sao Paolo and we didn’t know what to expect. Well, we arrived to this magnificent island with no traffic or roads. There are no cars allowed and the only form of traffic is wheelbarrows –which are their taxis. These are used to help people with their luggage. The roads or should I call them paths are pure beach sand and so we walked along to our Pousada that we had read about beforehand. It was on the hilltop and quite a trek in the midday heat. We climbed loads of deep stairs with our bags and we finally reached Posada Colibri. We were greeted by a lovely German lady named Marga and a glass of cold water. It was so peaceful and quiet and we felt like we were in paradise. I think it really is a kind of paradise with no crime or theft. There were some monkeys in the trees and lots of hummingbirds around as we waited in the thatched dining area for our bungalow to be cleaned. There is a gorgeous pool and an area to basque in the sun with views of the ocean. We walked into the town passed very nice shops and restaurants and got to the beaches. There are 4 beaches and one can walk quite far on the 4th beach. We got back to 2nd beach and had a Caiparinha on the beach whilst the sun set and the full moon came out. We had a big climb again back to the pousada but I guess it is good exercise. By the time we reached the top we were ready for an evening dip in the lit-up pool and a few mails on the internet- yes- we have connection here too.
