8 April, 07

At least the buses are not as cold as Venezuela and we were equipped with our blankets from the airplane and our sweaters too. We arrived very early in the morning, at about 5h30 am and we had already booked accommodation at a pousada recommended to us by some guests in Morro (Thanks for the recommendation Barbara and Peter). It is run by a lovely man called Alcino and he is an artist. His home is so comfortable and cozy and it is a beautiful guesthouse. Someone from the house met us at the bus station and brought us to the pousada. We went straight to our room to sleep for about 3 hours. Alcino then woke us up for breakfast and we were still so tired. Thank goodness we didn’t skip breakfast because it was amazing. Everyone sits at a big wooden table with wooden benches on the patio and the food just keeps coming. There were lots of traditional dishes and fresh fruits and everyone was very friendly. After a slow breakfast we walked into the little town and found a place to book our trek for tomorrow. We came back to the Pousada to fetch Andrea (from Rio de Janeiro) who joined us on a short hike. We walked to the mudslides and some waterfalls with natural pools. It was very pretty and relaxing and we swam in the little pools and lay on the rocks in the sun. We returned just before dark and Rich found the TV that had satellite. He was so excited because he could watch the end of the Final round of the Masters Golf Tournament. We had a great Picanha dish (meat on the grill) for dinner and we collapsed into bed.
